Milaidhoo only accommodates children over the age of 9
More night snorkelling adventures! While out night snorkeling on the Milaidhoo house reef recently, we spotted this little fellow: a painted spiny lobster.
They’re nocturnal and solitary, and usually hide away in holes or crevices during the day. Sometimes you can see their feelers extending out from their hiding place. They’re extremely shy and will retreat at the sight of a diver or snorkeler. They can also swim backwards quite quickly to escape predators by flapping their tail.
We watched this one from an unthreatening distance for a short while and let it go on its way.
