A simple cocktail recipe as a memory of Milaidhoo

Jan 22, 2022 Notes from a Chef

Looking for that simple cocktail recipe that can’t go wrong, yet looks and tastes impressive? At Milaidhoo our Compass Pool Bar team have composed a cocktail for guests to enjoy – and make when they return home and want to remember Milaidhoo.

1. The special ingredient

Special preparation time is needed for this unique cocktail. It begins with a good quality vanilla-flavoured vodka in which you have infused spices typically available in the Maldives (cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and star anise) – a beautiful flavour fusion. You will need about 60ml of this spice-infused vodka.

2. The other ingredients

Have 40ml Pomegranate Juice, 40ml Orange Juice and 15 ml Lemon Juice and 20ml sugar syrup ready. If you are really into spices, you can opt in to use spice-infused sugar syrup as well.

3. Shake it and decorate it

Shake the spiced vodka and other ingredients together with ice in a cocktail shaker and strain into in a cocktail glass. Decorating with a sugar nest on top makes it picture perfect. Simply use caramelised sugar to create wonderful sugar art.

4. Sugar art

Melt sugar in a pan – only stir the syrup when all the sugar is melted. Remove from the heat and let it set a little until the syrup thickens. Take the shape you prefer, e.g. a bowl, and cover the surface with a bit of vegetable oil. Use a spoon to drizzle the sugar syrup to make a nest of sugar. Let it cool and harden, then pop it on top to decorate your drink.

5. Name it

We invite you to choose your own name for this cocktail to complement your special occasion as you remember Milaidhoo.

Enjoy!
